Syed Abedi M.Sc., Ph.D, CGeol Affiliations:- FGS, PESGB.

Petroleum industry manager with 30 years of international experience in business planning, management and co-ordination. Experience includes 26 years with Shell Group, in planning, negotiating and execution of exploration, appraisal and development campaigns in a broad range of geological settings across Europe, SE Asia, Middle East and Africa.

Particular skills in strategy setting, managing assets, evaluating and assessing exploration/appraisal potential, formulating development plans, negotiating contracts and executing drilling plans. Extensive track record in the evaluation of licensing rounds, exploration acreage, negotiating and management of equity trading. Effective management of relations and liaison with governmental authorities and different co-venturers.

Operational experience in UK North Sea, Middle East, Niger Delta, Malaysia, Egypt, Gabon and India. Specialist knowledge in salt basins and deltaic settings.

Multi-lingual, experience in operating in multicultural environment and managing and and leading multidisciplinary teams of various backgrounds.

E & P industry professional with 29 years of continuous Shell Group experience in a broad range of geological settings, operational environments and licensing terms from UKCS, Netherlands, Turkey, Nigeria, Gabon, Indonesia and South America.

Major operator experience and team leader position in UKCS / NNS & East Irish Sea in exploration evaluation, acreage acquisition, exploration / appraisal drilling. Hands-on involvement in operational planning with production units, development project studies and joint venture partner representation.

Extensive negotiating experience and direct involvement in UKCS equity and unitisation projects and strong seismic interpretation career background.

Experienced role with major operator in North Sea in strategic asset management planning and assessment, co-ordinating exploration and production activities between London and Aberdeen.
